Plan for the Week | 17- 23 May

17 May

The weather forecast looks like temperatures will remain above 50 degrees at night for the week with above-normal daily high temperatures in the 90s during the day. We can finally direct sow carrots, pole beans, and cucumbers as soil temperatures are remaining above 60 degrees.  Plant supports are in place and soaker hoses will be installed in all beds being planted.

I expect to receive sweet potato slips by the end of the month which will be planted in the side beds running along the west fence. Other tasks will focus on observing plant growth, watching for insect and disease issues, and taking the appropriate steps to mitigate any observed problems.  There are several beds that still require hand watering (onions, potatoes, and beds along the west fence).  One bed of garlic was harvested last week.  More garlic will be checked and most likely harvested this week.

The Garden Manager or Master Gardeners will be on site when the garden is open.  Please check in when you arrive to see how you can add your expertise.
